All moms prepare a long checklist of items for the new member of the family. Many among them including myself, ensure to buy the most essential items in advance of the delivery. So in this article, let me share a few things that I find very essential when our newborn arrives. From this list, first-time moms (also expecting moms) can identify the missing items on their list.
When you plan to buy clothes for your newborn, you may include the following on your list: swaddles, frog suits, pairs of tie side long sleeves and pajamas, t-shirts, mittens, bonnet, and booties. The newborn babies are asleep most of the time. Hence the dress that the baby wears while sleeping should make them feel warm.
When you select frog suits, try to get those which close with snaps between the legs. You can easily change the diaper with that type of clothes. You may go for short sleeves or long sleeves after considering the weather in your place. When the climate is chill make sure to dress your newborn in bonnet, mittens, and booties too.
Even if it is highly-recommended to breastfeed our little one during their first year, keeping a few feeding/storage bottles is pretty handy. To give an example, you can use them as your breastmilk storage rather than using disposable breastmilk bags which by the way, is not cheap. You are also helping our Mother Earth by using reusable storage bottles.
So I came across this brand named Chummy Baby that offers good quality but super affordable in price. Their 150ml feeding bottle starts at P69 only. This is perfect for moms who have a limited budget! Plus, look at the packaging, it is so cute! By the way, don’t forget to check the last part of this post coz’ I’m giving away these to my one lucky reader!
Moms of newborns may ensure to keep sufficient stocks of diapers. The newborn child will require a minimum of 6 diapers a day. When you buy diapers for the first time ensure to buy a few packs of diapers from different brands. A stock of washcloths is necessary too. Wash the cloth in warm water to wipe the baby’s diaper area or while even during bath time. In case the baby gets a diaper rash, get a cream that is advised by your pediatrician. Most importantly, make sure you dispose of your dirty diapers properly.
Another important item that should be included in your newborn checklist is a digital thermometer. Moms may keep a first-aid kit exclusively for the newborn. Apart from other items, a digital thermometer must be a part of the first-aid kit. With a digital thermometer, you can easily check the baby’s temperature and if required you may take him/her to the clinic immediately.
Many mothers have difficulty breastfeeding their kids. As a result of breastfeeding the kid in awkward angles (or position), the mother develops back-pain and baby gets digestive disorders. The best solution is to use a breastfeeding pillow. An adjustable breastfeeding pillow made of cotton or foam is comfortable sleeping pillows also.
When you have a baby monitor, the guardian or parents can watch the activities of the baby even if they are out of the room. For a “yaya-less” mom, this will help her to do other chores while the baby is asleep. A baby monitor costs a thousand bucks but I find it a great investment.
So that’s it. Hope you find this newborn checklist helpful! Is there anything I missed? Let me know in the comments.
