On average, 78.8% of older women are unhappy with their skin.
This is usually because of natural changes that come with aging. Things like dark circles, wrinkles, and dark spots on the face are common for older women to have as they get older.
While these qualities may not be 100% preventable, it’s definitely possible to prevent them from being as noticeable.
The way to do this is by establishing and maintaining a great skin routine! Along with helping your skin age better, having a skincare routine offers many other benefits.
It’s simple skincare science, really.
So, why is skincare so important? Keep reading to learn about the importance of having a skincare routine in-depth!
The Importance of Skin Care
Your skincare routine doesn’t only impact the way that you look today, but how you look in the future as well!
The better you take care of your skin while you’re young, the better you’ll look when you’re older. If you aren’t caring for your skin as a young woman, it’s only going to get worse as you get older.
Find the products that work for you and the routine that you like and follow them daily. You’ll be glad you did!
Here are some other reasons why skincare is so important.
Simple Skincare Science
The importance of skincare honestly comes down to science!
Our skin regularly sheds its old cells to make room for the new cells. If you’re wondering why your skin seems so dry or flaky, this is why. In fact, our faces shed millions of skin cells every single day.
This life cycle of skin cells makes skincare so important. While your skin may look shiny and healthy one day, it can easily look dull or flaky the next. Staying on top of your skincare will help you maintain a healthy glow.
It’s Easier to Prevent than to Fix
If you get sick and have to go to the doctor, that can be inconvenient and for many of us, expensive!
You’re missing work due to your illness, and you have to find a way to squeeze in an appointment with all that you have going on. Who has time for that?
This is why it’s much easier and cheaper to get flu shots, take vitamin C, or practice good hygiene. This is preventative care, and it’s no different with skincare.
Many women choose to get botox, fillers, or laser treatment for skin insecurities as they get older. While this can help reduce the appearance of wrinkles, these procedures are expensive!
Cosmetic procedures aren’t covered by insurance, so if you choose to go through with one you’re paying completely out of pocket. Plus, these procedures can cause discomfort and require a healing process.
Wouldn’t it just be easier to practice a skincare routine to lessen these insecurities in the future? We think so! For me, this is the best among other benefits of a skincare routine.
You’ll Feel More Confident
Many of us shudder at the thought of going out in public without makeup covering our faces.
Maybe you have dark circles, or maybe your uneven skin tone makes you feel insecure. Regardless of what your insecurities are, having a regular skincare routine can help improve them over time
Your face is the first thing that people look at, so don’t you want to have skin that you can be proud of? If you find yourself hiding your skin or apologizing for it, it’s time to consider creating a skin routine!
The more confidence you have in yourself, the more confident you’ll feel in your everyday life. So, find the skincare routine that makes you shine.

Improving Your Skin Takes Time
Another benefit of a skincare routine is it helps to improve your skin as early as possible. Unfortunately, you can’t apply eye cream and expect your wrinkles and dark circles to go away overnight.
Beautiful skin is a process that takes time. The creams, serums, and masks that you use on your face help improve your complexion the more that you use them.
Not only do you need to use many skin products for a while before you see a difference, but the more you care for your skin the younger you’ll look in a few years!
Creating a skincare routine is essential for having and maintaining beautiful skin. If you wash your face with a cleanser every three days, you likely won’t see much improvement. Skincare is something that takes repetition and patience to see the results you desire.
None Of Us Have the Same Skin
While there are some women who seem to have the perfect complexion with little to no effort, this isn’t the case for most of us.
For most of us, nice skin requires a personalized skincare routine. This means that in order to treat your skin, you’ll need to understand what your skin type is, as well as which insecurities you want to work on.
For example, if you have dry skin, you’ll want to use cleansers that lock in moisture. Additionally, you’ll want to incorporate an exfoliating product, as well as a great moisturizer into your routine.
On the other hand, someone with oily skin will need to use products that complement their skin type. They will want to use oil-free moisturizers that don’t double the amount of oil on their skin.
If your insecurities include dark spots, you’ll want to invest in some brightening serums or creams.
Nobody has the same skin type, which is why there are so many different products on the market. If you aren’t entirely sure what your skin type is, many cosmetic companies offer skin quizzes to help you learn which products you need.
What’s Your Beauty Routine?
Each of us has a different face, skin type, and set of insecurities when it comes to our skin, that’s the beauty of simple skincare science.
Don’t let your insecurities rule your life! Find the skin routine that makes your skin feel beautiful. Feel proud in your skin, instead of embarrassed by it.
You can’t underestimate the power of a woman with confidence. So you better take note of all the benefits of a skincare routine listed above.

Yup, I agree so much. It’s fine to try different brands if that what it takes for someone to find what best works for them.
Thanks π
Healthy skin, like health in general, takes a lot of work. It is good to focus on our skin, as it is often a reflection of our health. I have always struggled with keeping my skin clear, despite trying so many difference approaches.
I neglect my skin far too much because I am so busy. Thanks for the tips!

I agree! It’s not bad to try any brands or any skin care products until you found what best to your skin.
As of now di muna ako nagamit ng mga skin care products kasi breastfeed ang baby ko. Mga after a year or 2. Para safe si baby give way muna si mommy sa pagpapabeauty ng skin.
