Days before I gave birth to Cloud, I started to notice there’s milk coming out of my nipples. Being a first-time mom, I was amazed. Wow ito pala yung breastmilk. I started to make my own research on breastfeeding; its benefits, do’s and dont’s and many more. Moreover, I did join Breastfeeding Pinays on Facebook. I learned so many things from that group from the techniques and how to maintain your milk supply. Our breastfeeding journey lasted for 3 years.

But as a breastfeeding mom, I should be careful about the food and drinks I take.

Coffee, for instance, contains caffeine which may cause fussiness in breastfeed babies. I’m a certified coffee addict pa naman! So during those years, I lowered my coffee intake to 1 cup (from 3 cups) a day. Ang saklap no? 🙁

Mother Nurture
Mommy Lan San Juan-Perez, the woman behind Mother Nurture products

But thanks to Mommy Lan San Juan-Perez, the woman behind Mother Nurture products, became aware of the challenges in breastfeeding of many Filipino women. While on her breastfeeding journey, Lan noticed that there were very few local products specifically formulated and deemed safe for pregnant and lactating mothers. Although there was Malunggay Coffee available, the labels usually caution pregnant and lactating mothers against drinking them due to its caffeine content.

This encouraged Lan to formulate, develop and market her Mother Nurture 7in1 Chocomix and 7in1 Coffeemix. These are packed with breastmilk production booster or galactagogues such as Calcium Lactate, Malunggay powder, and Ashitaba. It also has Gotu Kola, a herb that helps relieve mental fatigue and boost blood circulation. Both products are sweetened with Stevia, a healthy sugar substitute that helps in insulin secretion and is a known antioxidant.

These make Mother Nurture products not only safe for pregnant and breastfeeding moms but also for diabetics, hypertensive, acidic and even kids.

They are Halal certified too!

Furthermore, MN products are made by a mom for moms as she opened her products for online sellers. Currently, she has 150 partner reseller stores, fellow breastfeeding moms and advocates nationwide. Through her products, she is not only helping fellow mothers enjoy breastfeeding. But also giving them the chance to earn while taking care of their babies full time. After five years, Mother Nurture is now officially launching products after earning the approval of the FDA.

Despite continuous advocacy and information dissemination on the benefits of breastfeeding, Filipino mothers have yet to fully understand and appreciate the wonderful benefits of exclusively breastfeeding their babies. <3
