Most of us grew up where white rice is a staple in our dining table. Kulang yung kabusugan natin kapag walang white rice. Lols. But if you are someone who tends to have a healthier lifestyle, you might have heard about the forbidden rice or black rice.

Black Rice has fewer calories than White Rice. It also has lesser carbs but is high in fiber, and a better source of protein than white rice.

Consumption of blackrice has been linked to marked decreases in risk for dangerous conditions such as heart disease and cancer. High blood pressure, circulation, and overall blood health also seem to be maintained well by those who add Black Rice to their diet. Because this special type of rice is considered to be anti-inflammatory and a great source of antioxidants, it may be useful in avoiding long-term problems like Alzheimer’s and Diabetes. -http://blackrice.com

My Thoughts

It has been a month since I switched to black rice. For someone who super loves white rice, I never thought that switching to blackrice would be a good idea. Plus the fact that I’m 22 weeks pregnant and still has this weird kind of taste. Haha. For me, it still tastes like white rice but differs in texture and it kind of dissolves in your mouth.

It feels light (kahit busog na busog na ko) after a meal. Not bloated whatsoever. Moreover, I noticed that my bowel movement became more manageable since I’m taking iron supplements which makes me constipated. Its fiber content really helped me a lot!
