Being creative is part of our kid’s development. It does not only mean being good in art but it also helps develop our kids mentally, socially and emotionally. As parents, it is our responsibility to develop their creative skills as they grow up. Here are five fun activities to showcase this skill:

Reading stories

Sharing stories and reading with your child can develop them in a lot of ways. It helps our child become familiar with sounds, language and the value of books as a useful source of information. Reading stories also stimulate our child’s imagination, curiosity and help his brain development. My son and I love to read books as it also promotes bonding and helps to build our relationship that is very important for my son’s developing social and communication skills.

Construction Play

Wooden blocks are very helpful to help our kids develop problem-solving skills, hand-eye coordination, and motor skills. In addition, it develops a capacity for creative, social and language skills. Playing blocks was also linked with advanced maths skills in later life.

Music, movement, and dance

Music encourages a child’s imagination and creative free expression. Furthermore, it increases primary areas of a child’s intellectual growth such as boosting vocabulary, language, memory, and much more. Most importantly, everyone knows that dancing is good for our body too!

Messy play

Let your kids play outside, have fun and get messy. Let them explore what nature has to offer. It’s a great way to experience different sensory experience. It also helps your kids to relax and lose the tension as they experiment different properties of materials. Join in and let your kid know that sometimes it’s okay to get your hands dirty.

Create their everyday snacks

Studies show that kids seem to like foods that resemble something they are familiar with such as spaceships, dogs, cows and etc. Creating your own food sounds like an exciting activity just like what happened to #CheezWhizCheeseventions wherein Cheez Whiz (the number one cheese spread in the country) recently held a workshop event at SM Megamall Activity Center last May 8, 2018. There was Cheese 101 workshop where Chef DJ Santos demonstrated three fun and easy recipes to make with Cheez Whiz – Cheesy Pepperoni Tower, Cheesy Cupcake Pops, and Cheesy Burrito.

My own version of Cheesy Cupcake Pops

Here’s another example you and your kids can create:

Solar Cheestem:

Ingredients: Cupcakes, Cheez Whiz 220g, Planet toppers

Procedure:

  1. Spread thick Cheez Whiz on top of the cupcakes.
  2. Lay out the Solar System placemat on the table.
  3. Place a cupcake on each planet outline.
  4. Stick the toppers into the cupcakes.

Two more legs are coming up within the month, the second leg is on May 22, Tuesday, at Glorietta 3, while the last leg will be held on May 28, Monday, at Trinoma. Everyone is invited!

Now, it’s time to create your Cheeseventions and submit them at cheeseventions.com for a chance to win 10,000 pesos and be featured in the Cheez Whiz (@CheezWhizPH) Facebook page.
