After our visit at Tickles – SM City North branch, Hubby and I decided to try Ramen Nagi for our late lunch.
I have tried different varieties of ramen but not something like Ramen Nagi’s Black King aka squid ink ramen. Black soup? Eww, it looks gross but interesting! I’ve been meaning to try it for the longest time and I was very excited that I finally get to taste it.
Known for its Butao King (traditional pork bone soup) and Black King, Ramen Nagi placed on top for must-try ramen houses in the metro. It was established by Chef Ikuta Satoshi in Japan in 2006 and opened its branches in Hongkong, Taipei, Indonesia, and Manila (2013).

Before taking our orders, we were informed that they do not allow TAKE OUT for ramen as it gets soggy when it is eaten long after it is served. Hmmm, that makes sense.

Nagi Star Salad, P280 |
Our appetizer, Nagi Star Salad. It is a mixed of sliced cabbage and lettuce with crispy noodles topped with special dressing and cherry tomatoes. The vegetables are fresh and crunchy. I’m not fond of crispy noodles but I find myself eating every bit of it. The special dressing is delicious too.

Original King – Butao, P390 |
Hubby ordered Original King – Butao. He always goes for the best seller. As expected, he loves it! It is a tonkatsu pork-broth prepared in the traditional method. It is rich in taste and very aromatic. Will surely order this the next time we visit.

Black King (Kuroo), P410 |
And lastly, my Black King. Fragnant blackened garlic and squid in a silky broth with succulent chasu, finished with a ball of minced pork, black sesame, and Nagi spices.
But before I dipped into my ramen, one of the staff offered me to wear a bib so I can enjoy my food without worrying my shirt to get dirty.
Black King reminds me of my mom’s famous adobong pusit which is my next favorite to her pork sinigang. I could taste its rich flavorful squid ink which I really enjoyed. The noodles and the sliced pork were perfectly made too. This is something ramen lovers should definitely try.
Overall, we are happy customers! Serving time is 15 to 20 minutes but the food served earlier which is impressive. Reasonably priced too since they are good for sharing. The place is really nice and the staff are accommodating. I will definitely try Butao on our next visit.

I had no idea there were so many ramen options. I'm actually ashamed that my knowledge of ramen has been so limited. Everything looks so good!
I do love Ramen, one of my fave choices at Wagamama, but not so sure about black soup, just not visually very appealing for me.

See! All fast food does not need to be gross deep fried, unhealthy stuff. I'd wait a lot longer than 15 minutes for these bad boys!
