When I decided to pursue my career as a makeup artist, my makeup collection grows tremendously.

From different shades of foundations, concealers, eyeshadows, and lipsticks, they all grown in numbers. By that means, I carry a LOT during makeup gigs. And because of that, I searched ways to downsize my makeup kit, hence, to depot some of my lipsticks. Having them depotted also means all your colors are there for you and your client to see. It may sound a little intimidating to cut your precious lipstick off, but for someone who has a lot of makeup to manage, this will make your life easier.

For today, I am sharing with you the cheapest way to depot your lipsticks using pillboxes. I bought this set for 50php/1usd at Landmark Trinoma. On the other hand, you may also check these palettes from MAC (19usd ~ 35usd) or  Vueset (800php+). I consider using the palette from MAC because it looks more professional and gorgeous at the same time. Things you will need are your old lipsticks, pillbox, a spatula, knife, and wipes or Q-tips.

Twist out your lipstick as far as it will go and cut it off using spatula/knife and carefully place it in one of the compartments. Repeat the steps until you have filled your “palette”. Use the wipes / q-tips to clean out the edges.

Tadaann! A bit messy though lols. To make it look nicer, you can pop them in the microwave for 10 to 20 seconds. I’d rather not to since I’m worried that the plastic container might melt and I hate to lose my entire lipstick palette that way. Lastly, don’t forget to put a label at the bottom of each shade for your reference.

Another way is to melt your lipsticks on a tablespoon over a candle before you carefully place it in the container. However, melting your lipsticks might mess up some of the formulas so carefully think about it before you start.
