Matte liquid lipsticks have become one of the must-haves of every girl’s makeup purse.
They claim to be more pigmented, lightweight, smudge-proof and has a better lasting power compared to the usual bullet lipsticks. I officially joined the LL (liquid lipstick) craze with my first NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream (in Istanbul, Abu Dhabi & Amsterdam) which also became too popular back then. Thereafter, other makeup brands such as Colourpop also released their own version – Ultra Matte Lipstick and I got myself in the shade of Teeny Tiny. I also tried the cult-favorite Matte in Detail by Cosmetix Unlimited in few shades. My only concern is they tend to dry out my lips despite the scrubbing I did beforehand. Getting the same results left me with the impression that ALL liquid lipsticks have the same drying effect.
But here’s the thing, Cathy Doll Geisha Hanazakari Liquid Lipstick is different.
This has been with me for a while now and honestly, I don’t want to use it at first. However, while getting ready for an event, I finally reached for it and tried it for the very first time.
Cathy Doll is one of the leading brands in Asia that offers Korean-inspired beauty products from Thailand. I was luckily invited to their launch last May [Cathy Doll is now in the Philippines] and was able to take home Cathy Doll goodies to try and give away some to my lovely readers.
Moving back, Geisha Hanazakari Lip Matte is formulated with a soft velvet texture that flourishes your lips like a flower in full bloom.
With its matte semi-gloss innovation, the special formula brightens lips instantly. And prevents dryness and flakes mimicking the outstanding lips of ancient Geisha. It has 5 distinctive shades and I have in the shade 03 Wine Red.
Wine red is deep red with a hint of purple that perfectly works to both fair and medium complexion. I love that it instantly brightens my face with full brows and subtle pink blush.

As mentioned above, it has a soft velvety texture that glides smoothly on the lips. Moreover, I love that it is super pigmented and can give a decent look in just one swipe. It is also buildable where you can put one layer on top of the other for a more intense look. On the side note, I find its doe-foot applicator a bit tricky especially in lining my lips and you may consider using a red lip liner. Lastly, it takes a minute to dry out completely unlikely to my previous liquid lipsticks.
If you hate waiting, get a tissue paper and pat it on your lips to remove the excess oil and dab some loose powder to set.

During the event, Aci (a fellow mommy blogger) compliments the lipstick shade that I’m wearing and I told her it’s Cathy Doll Geisha Hanazakari Liquid Lipstick.
Our event began with a sumptuous lunch and I was pretty impressed that it still looks good. A little fading on my inner lips and just topped it off with a new layer without flakiness going on. With its special formulation, this definitely can last the entire day. Would you believe it did not dry out my lips? I finally found my favorite liquid lipstick!
