Avalon Organics Vitamin C Renewal Balancing Toner [Review]

Hello dearies! Welcome to another product review! So after using this for months, I can finally share my thoughts about Avalon Organics Vitamin C Renewal Balancing Toner. I got this for 7.21usd (320php+) at Puregold Duty Free in Subic last November. Besides Duty Free, you can also find this brand at any Healthy Options branches near you. Its “Vitamin C renewal” made me decide to get this since I have dark spots and uneven skin tone that I want to lighten. Did it work? Just keep reading. 🙂

It contains organic ingredients and formulated without synthetic fragrances and harsh sulfates nor parabens.  I became more interested in organic products because some studies show that parabens, phthalates et al (that you can find in commercial products) can cause breast cancer if reached the certain exposure level which is really scary. The container is also made of 100% recycled material which is environment-friendly. Let us help Mother Nature!

It claims to balances, restores even tone and provides photo-aging defense. It also rebalances the skin’s moisture levels and targeting areas of hyperpigmentation with the help of aloe, cucumber, and papaya extract ingredients. Plant-derived Vitamin C, a powerful antioxidant and cell energizer, helps eliminate free radical damage caused by daily sun exposure to help fight the visible signs of photo-aging.

It has 251ml (8.5 fl oz) of product which is bigger from a usual toner. I appreciate the “summary” on the front label rather than reading the whole details at the back. On the side note, for liquid products I prefer the twist off cap over “press” cap to avoid spillage. Furthermore, I’m not a fan of its fragrance which is a sweet citrus scent, and for me, it’s like an overripe orange fruit but tolerable. (I don’t know, I’ve noticed my sense of smell became more sensitive after I gave birth. Ugh)

To use, after cleansing, dampen a cotton ball with toner and gently sweep over the face and neck. It leaves my skin a bit sticky and takes a minute or two to fully absorbed by the skin. Given my acne-prone skin, I never expected that this toner will help clear and control my breakouts but I noticed my scars doesn’t stay long on my face. I still breakout (one or two pimples) once in a while but I am glad that this toner helps to heal and lightens my scars in few weeks time.

To conclude, I do not recommend this for combination skin / acne-prone skin but only for people who concerns about hyperpigmentation and uneven skin tone.

Will I repurchase it? No. I’ve had enough of this.

What is your favorite toner?

  1. Too bad this didn't work out well for you! I'm in love with Neal's Yard Remedies Frankincense toner. It is one of the best I've ever tried.

  2. Nice review. And i thought i might just consider this; good thing though youve mentioned about sticky feeling and not recommending for combination and acne prone skin. Thanks.

  3. I'm prone to acne so I don't get to enjoy testing out products in the market. I did once but it only made my skin worst. Hence, I'm sticking up to doctor-recommended products or non-comedogenic ones.

  4. I think it's great because it makes use of organic ingredients, which means it's perfect for sensitive skin! The scent is something that I prefer over florals, so I don't really mind it.

  5. Thank you for your honest review. It is just right that we read the labels. I have always used Neutrogena products and they work best for my skin. Don't take my word for it though, because everyone has different skin types and may not have the same results. Better to try a small bottle first.
