Maybelline ColorShow Lipsticks in Orange Icon, Chic Peach and True Toffee (Swatches + Review)

Dec 1, 2015 | Beauty & Fashion | 14 comments

Hello beauties! If you read my Maybelline mini-haul here,  you know that I got these babies as a prize from an Instagram contest courtesy of Martha (The Beauty Junkee). The contest was very simple, you just have to repost Martha’s Instagram photo for you to have an entry. Simple mechanics but awesome goodies!

Big thanks to The Beauty Junkee herself.

I am happy with the prizes because Maybelline is one of my favorite drugstore brands.

Bottom part: Shade and Manufacturing Date
The loot includes these 3 beautiful shades from their Colorshow line. I am not so sure how much it retails in the store but these lipsticks are currently on sale at Luxola for 247php.

Nothing is special about the packaging as they are enclosed in a black plastic case with a little color coding at the center. I love that the cap click shuts firmly and secured. Colorshow lipsticks have 27 shades divided into four categories: noble nudes, perfect pinks, classic reds, and proactive plums.

Orange Icon is a bright coral shade with pink undertone.

Chic Peach belongs to noble nude that is a sheer peach nude color that perfect for fair skin.
True Toffee also belongs to noble nude and darker version of Chic Peach, in my opinion. This is also my favorite among the three shades.

Texture-wise, it has a smooth and creamy consistency which makes the application easy peasy.

I love the fact that it is very hydrating to keep your lips moisturized. Also, it is pigmented that you can see the shade for just one swipe except for Chic Peach which has a sheer finished that you have to put the extra layer to cover the color of your lips.

I was impressed that it stayed 4 – 6 hours on my lips with meals. On the side note, you have to check yourself from time to time as the product stayed on my lip lines. And since it has a creamy texture it does transfers. One tip is to dab your lips in a tissue paper to absorb the oil and apply another layer for a perfect pop of color.

1. Creamy texture
2. Very pigmented
3. Keeps my lips hydrated
4. Wide selection of shades
5. Affordable and locally available
1. Packaging
1. Settles on my lip lines
2. Does transfers

Will I repurchase them? Yes, but will buy other shades

Given that it is very pigmented, has great lasting power and super affordable, this is definitely a must-try! This is also a perfect start for those who want to build their own makeup collection.

Have you tried Maybelline ColorShow Lipsticks? In what color?

Great lip colors indeed. However, I'd still go by my fave shades of pink rather than go nude and neutral.

  2. Kimberley Reyes

All three shades look good on you! I like the peach and toffee shades…not sure if I can pull of the orange one. I have fair skin but I've never tried "strong" colors on my lips yet.

I love the first two colors. I don't look good on pale colors, though. That's why I'd like to try them. =)

I use Maybelline Face Powder, but I haven't tried their lipsticks yet. I'd love to try True Toffee. — Maria Teresa Figuerres

I'm currently eyeing on their Nude Mocha shade. The True Toffee suits you well.
