The Face Shop Oil Control Water Cushion Review

Good morning beauties! How was your weekend go? Hope you are not affected by typhoon Lando and let us keep on praying that everybody is safe and sound.
Anyhoo, I can’t wait to share you an awesome find from my BDJ Elite Box (know more about HERE). And that is The Face Shop Oil Control Water Cushion!
Achieve long lasting freshness with the newest and first every matte effect in a cushion foundation from The Face Shop! The moist-cover effect of The Face Shop Oil Control Water Cushion promotes a healthy look while covering up imperfections and pigmentation. It has sebum control formula that help keeps makeup shine-free. Plus it has a sweat proof effect that makes it feel fresh like when it is first applied.Β
Aside from getting this from BDJ Box, you could also purchase it to any The Face Shop stores nationwide. This retails at Php895 for 15grams. The price is almost the same with other liquid foundations but in a glass bottle like Revlon, Covergirl and etc available in the market. Since this is my first time using a cushion-type foundation product I have no idea how long will I take to finish such product. So I can’t say now if this is worth every cent or not.
Product is enclosed in a white compact case which is double the thickness of a usual compact casing. Yes, that thick. Not a travel friendly but I prefer to bring this because it is lightweight rather than bringing a liquid foundation in a glass bottle.
This comes with a Microfoam which is 4 times denser than the regular ones. I like it because this sponge doesn’t absorb the product which makes my application easier and faster. I got in the shade V201 Apricot Beige. Which by the way the perfect shade for me. I hope TFS would come up with a wider range of shades because as of now they only have two shades available, the 201 and 203 (for darker skin tone).Β
And did I mention it has sun protection? πŸ™‚

The product dispenses by just pressing your sponge gently against the cushion. The amount of product is depends on how hard you pressed against it.
This offers a medium to full coverage and was able to cover up most of my open pores and dark spots. I love it! Its not heavy on skin and feels that you are not wearing any foundation at all. Thus, this feels like a second skin to me. Its not totally matte but you can use a finishing powder to set. I applied one layer so it will look natural on me and I think applying it too much will turned out to be cakey.Β

Me with the rest of my make up πŸ™‚ Excuse my eyebags heheh
This foundation makes my skin glowy and healthy-looking without the sticky feeling on skin. Two thumbs up TFS!

However, given my combination skin, I started to oil up after 4 hours but not the “oily-sticky” kind of feeling. Might better to use a makeup primer to hold up the oil a little longer. Moreover, my dry areas/patches specially around my lips are starting peeking through after few hours so you better check yourself from time to time.

Nevertheless, it’s still intact after wearing it the whole day!

Pros:
Β 1. Medium to full coverage
2. Easy to blend
3. Lightweight on skin
4. My skin looks glowy and healthy-looking
5. Long lasting
6. Has sun protection

Neutral:
1. A bit pricey
2. Packaging

Cons:
1.Β  Accentuated dry patches
2. Has only two shades available

I’ve been using this everyday and I’m loving this!
Will I repurchase this? Definitely yes!

Hope this review helped.
Thank you for the time reading this. πŸ™‚

Β Much Love,
Mommy Mhaan

  1. It's been years since Korean Brands released Cushion products. I haven't tried mine since I still have BB Creams and other liquid foundations. Face Shop's packaging look sleek and clean here.

Can we drop our BB creams into the cushion in case it would run out already? I just think it might be possible. :3

  2. I find cushion products a bit pricey but later I found out that they have almost the same price with some drugstore liquid foundations. I tried BB creams before but it didn't work on my oily face. I ended up using Revlon Colorstay Foundation which I used as my everyday foundation.

  3. I haven't used foundations for some time now. I just use BB creams topped with face powder. But I feel like I have to buy foundation again for use during special occasions. This one looks like it's worth a try. I like how natural it looks on you. πŸ™‚

  4. i am not big on make-up but this is something i am really interested to try after reading your very detailed review. it should work well to hide my uneven skin tone + keep the oil at bay
