How to Do Your Makeup like a Pro

With my beautiful debutant Lorraine. Photo was taken by my no. 1 supporter, hubby πŸ™‚

While there are a wide variety of makeup trends to try out this season, no look is complete without the right base.

The perfect eye makeup and a complementing lip color will finish the whole look. However, we all know there is much more to make up than simply putting on a base. There are a million steps and it can get quite meddling at times. Let me simplify those confusing steps so you can able to apply your makeup like a PRO!

Prep the skin!

Before applying any makeup, it is important to prep your skin with the essentials. This starts with a good cleanser and a moisturizing cream to hydrate your skin.

I am currently loving the Celeteque Hydration Facial Moisturizer. It is water-based, hypo-allergenic and great for hydration. You can also use Avene Thermal Water toΒ soothe irritated sensitive skin. These two are must-haves in my makeup kit.

Primer is critical

Never underestimate the power of a good primer. In order for your makeup to sit well and blend with each other, you need a primer. To be able to create an even base, try applying a primer with a foundation brush. Cover your entire face for the maximum effect.

My best primer so far, the Benefit the Porefessional Pro Balm.

Foundations are key

Now for the first part of makeup: Foundation.

Start at the center of the face and continue to blend outward by using a stippling brush or a blending sponge. Apply the base in thin amounts, which means you can build-up if you wish for more coverage.

In my makeup kit are MAC Studio Fix Liquid Foundation, MUFE Ultra HD Foundation, Makeup Factory Velvet Lifting Foundation and the L’oreal Tru Match Foundation.

Conceal it up

After you have applied your liquid foundation, only add concealer in the areas that need additional coverage. Make a triangle under your eye by using a small concealer brush and gently blend it into your skin with your fingers or a beauty sponge.

My concealer must-haves are Maybelline FitMe Concealer and Graftobian Hi-Def Glamour Creme Corrector Palette.

Set your face

This may be the most important step to give you that flawless finish. Your liquid base needs a light dust of powder. Sweep over a light, translucent natural powder for an airbrushed look. Just apply with a fluffy powder brush for an even application.

I always recommend the Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder. But if you have a limited budget, you may try its dupe, the Nichido Final Powder. It’s only 150 pesos but performs almost the same as LM.

Highlight those cheekbones

Apply a highlighter to your cheekbones, browbones, the center of the nose and to your cupid’s bow. This will add definition and capture the light in just the right places.

The only highlighting palette I am using is the Sleek Highlighting Palette in SolsticeΒ and I’m loving it so much!

Bronzer and Blush

For a day to day look, try by using a bronzer/blush combo. You can apply your bronzer first, on the hollows of your cheeks, hairline and to your jawline to give yourself a contoured look. Then layer your blush over it, slightly below your cheekbones.

One of my favorite blush/contour palettes is the BYS Contour Trio in Sweet. It has this warm peachy blush and aΒ warm-toned medium contour shade that fits all skin tones. I swear by this palette.

This is how you get yourself that amazing look.

Of course, the steps above focus on the face more, but that is what everything else relies on. Your eyes and lips will compliment it. But don’t forget your eyelashes to make your eyes pop even more. If you have short or sparse eyelashes, try Lilash. It’s an eyelash growth enhancement product that promises to improve the volume and length of eyelashes after continuous use. Mastering this part of makeup will give you that beautiful finish that you always desired. Follow the steps above and stun your peers with a mesmerizing glammed up look!
