On Makeup Setting Sprays [MAC Prep+Prime Fix+, L’oreal Paris Infallible Makeup Extender Setting Spray]

For almost five years of using makeup, I never planned nor imagined myself using makeup setting sprays. Yes, I have seen them many times used by famous makeup gurus on Youtube but never got interested in trying. My main reason is that I am free to go to the powder room anytime I want to fix my makeup. I also make sure to bring my blotting paper for a quick touch up on-the-go. All the while, I thought using makeup setting sprays is already too much and just a waste of money. I never thought of buying one not until my makeup instructor advised me to purchase one. According to her, this will be my life saver. Currently, I have MAC Prep + Prime Fix+ (1300php) and L’oreal Paris Infallible Makeup Extender Setting Spray (400php+)

As per my instructor, MAC Prep + Prime Fix+ is a great investment a makeup artist could ever have. And I absolutely agree. From prepping the skin to retouch, you can rely on this babyMAC Prep + Prime Fix+is a non-aerosol mist that hydrates your skin and acts as a perfect base before applying makeup. You can also spray it on your blending sponge aka Beauty Blender on applying foundation for a flawless finish. Moreover, spritz a little amount on your eyeshadow brush to load up more pigments for a more intensify eye makeup look. After the makeup is done, spray on the face for the finishing touch. This adds a little bit of dewiness and helps your makeup to last longer.

L’oreal Paris Infallible Makeup Extender Setting Spray, on the other hand, is basically a “post-makeup” setting spray. I decided to purchase it because it was included on the “sale” items and would love to try other setting sprays. I recently found out that it contains alcohol that can dry out the skin and causes irritation. Ooops, a big NO for my clients.

I used them alternately every time I have full face makeup on. Apparently, I am loving more the MAC Prep + Prime Fix+ because of its many uses plus it adds moisture on my skin. I’m a bit reluctant about the L’oreal Paris Infallible Makeup Extender Setting Spray because of its alcohol content that may dry out and irritate the skin. It is hard for me to toss this out, thus, I am keeping it for personal use instead. Nevertheless, both setting sprays help my makeup stay intact for a longer period of time (6hours at least).
So what’s your favorite makeup setting spray?

  1. I didn't know about setting spray until some weeks ago and I have to say it's lifechanging! I would really recommend anyone who doesn't know about it to give it a try, I will get MAC's prep next 🙂

  2. Wow. This is the first time I've even heard about make up setting sprays. Is it kind of like hair spray for your face? I might have to look into this. I hate when my make up settles into fine cracks or lines on my face. Not very attractive.
