Our Quick Baguio Getaway [Where We Stayed and Things We Did]

So before the summer ends where the rain starts pouring almost every day, our family went to Baguio for a quick getaway.

Hubby and I were very excited since this will be Cloud’s second out of town trip; the first one was at Pico De Loro in Batangas when he was 3 months old. And now that he is a year older (1 year and 4 months to be exact), I bet he can do more like biking and horse-back riding which he will surely love.
It was roughly a 5-hour drive from Quezon City to Baguio using NLEx (North Luzon Expressway), SCTEx (Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway) and TPLEx (Tarlac-Pangasinan Expressway) that made our travel more comfortable and faster compared to the 7-hour travel time that we were used to.

We departed at 9am and stopped for breakfast along NLEx for an hour.

The travel went smoothly since it was Sunday. We experienced the mild traffic after the Marcos Highway and arrived in Baguio City around 2pm. We were supposed to have lunch at Good Taste but there was a long queue in dine-in and take-out, so we chose a different place to eat.  From there we decided to head on straight to Bonbel Condominium which will be our home for 3 days. Luckily, we have brought some cooked rice and adobo that came to the rescue to fill our empty stomachs.

We rented two units of a two-unit bedroom since we came in a big group. Will make a separate thorough review about Bonbel Condominium in my future posts.

It rained the whole afternoon, so we ended our day hearing a mass and a simple family dinner at SM Baguio. End of Day 1.

Next day was a beautiful morning and we decided to go to Burnham Park to stroll and let the kids enjoy biking. Rental fee is 50php per hour.

I could see on Cloud’s face that he enjoyed a lot our first family biking session.

He also enjoyed the view of a lot of people around him. Burnham Park is indeed one of the best places in Baguio for a family bonding. Sadly, we weren’t able to rent a boat since the rain is about to start after our biking session. Next time son!

Our next stop: Mini Golf at Camp John Hay. It has 18 golf courses that represent different animals which makes the game more enjoyable for kids and kids at heart. You can rent your own golf club and ball at the information desk. They will also provide your own scorecard. Rental fee is for 100php++.

This is my second time to be here and I was looking forward to seeing Cloud grabbing his own golf club but since the weather was crazy (aaraw at uulan). We prefer to stay inside the car while waiting for the others to finish their game.

Later on, we finally went outside when Cloud feels grumpy and we just let him explore the playground beside the golf course.

After our sumptuous lunch at Seafood Island Restaurant, we headed to Shalan ni Kabadjo which is also inside the Camp John Hay. Horse rental is 400php/hour and 250php/30mins.

I am proud of my son because he has no fear in animals (unlike me!) In fact, he almost cried when the picture taking has finished. Again, next time son.

The rain started pouring heavily and decided to call it a day.

The rain did not stop so we stayed at the condominium that night and had our dinner delivered by Jollibee hehe. End of Day 2.

A sunny morning at La Trinidad, Benguet! Our Baguio getaway is not complete without the fresh strawberry picking. 1 kilo of strawberry costs 400php. You can also take photos of yourself with these blooming sunflowers for 20php / unlimited shots.

Every trip is meaningless without grabbing some pasalubong.

Where to buy the best Baguio delicacies? Where else could that be? Of course, at Good Shepherd! After we bought pasalubong, we went back to Bonbel Condominium to check out and took some family pictures before we finally leave the place.

Our mandatory wacky family picture 🙂

When all the bags were loaded and ready to leave we decided to have a hearty meal at the Hill Station just a couple of minutes away from Bonbel Condominium

I was left in awe when I stepped inside because wow! It feels so historical and I always get fascinated with old houses turned into a restaurant.

We were also able to grab some interesting books for Cloud at Mt. Cloud Bookshop. Isn’t that cool?!

More of Hill Station and Mt. Cloud Bookshop soon on my blog because they deserve a separate post.

Overall, it was indeed an enjoyable family experience in Baguio City!
So how did you end your summer?
I would love to hear them on the comment section below.

Thanks for dropping by dearies! 🙂

  4. Though they would often say Baguio is crowded already, I still love going back there again and again. Perhaps its the food or the joy of walking. The climate as well and of course, Good Shepherd. SO cute of Cloud on all the photos. Love his long hair. eheehe

  9. Hayyy di ko alam if kaya ko na ba pumunta ng Bagiuo with our 3 bubwits! But I want to take them to the strawberry farm. I'm just terrified of taking the bus kasi, our car can't do it.

  12. Good to hear you enjoyed your stay in my hometown. 🙂
Baguio born and bred here. Though it is really true that Baguio has changed a lot in the recent years. I still miss the old Baguio that I know.
Hopefully you get to visit Tam-awan Village and Bencab museum next time. Tam-awan village has a nice view of the South China Sea on a clear day. And also try the local restos there – one is the famous ketchup food community, just in front of Wright Park. 🙂
There are a lot of good places to hang out there nowadays. A lot of them I haven't been to yet since I rarely go home nowadays…
